Westlake and Johnson boy’s golf leading regional competition

Round one of the region 4 6A golf tournament started on Monday, April 23 at the Republic Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas. Teams from around Austin down to the valley traveled to the Club hoping to qualify for the UIL State tournament.

The top three teams and the top three individual medalists not included in the top three teams qualify for the State tournament to be held in Austin during the early part of May.

Currently, Austin Westlake (276) is in first place with the team from Johnson (283) in second. Seven points separate the two teams. Austin Vandegrift secured third place during the first round of competition with a score of 292. Reagan is currently in fourth with a score of 299.

Taft is in eleventh place with a score of 329. The team from O’Connor landed in the 12th position with a score of 330.

Individual golfer, Carson Hunsucker from Brandeis is tied for 23rd position with a score of 75.

Logan Winningham finished with a score of 79 for the first day and is currently in 45th position.

Competition will continue tomorrow at 9am. At the conclusion of round two, the scores will be combined with round one scores to determine the overall finish for each golfer.
