Voters decided runoff elections today

Voters went to the polls Tuesday, May 22 to decide the last positions for the November general election. Candidates that did not win a clear majority during the primaries faced each other in a runoff. The election results are not statewide but for the San Antonio area only.

Republican Party

US Representative, District 21

Chip Roy wins. Roy 7.064 and Matt McCall 5,933.

State Representative, District 21

Matt Beebe loses. Bebee 4,482 and Steve Allison 6,054.

District Judge, 187th Judicial District

Karl Alexander wins over Joey Contreras by 2,231 votes. Alexander 13,683 and Contreras 10,954.

District Judge, 226th District

Todd McCray edges his opponent by 253 votes. McCray 12,365 and Wiedermann 12,112.

Judge, County Probate Court No. 2

Julie Hardaway defeats challenger Laura D. Heard. Hardaway 13,098 and Heard 11,539.

County Chair

Jo Ann Ponce Gonzales lost to challenger Cynthia Brehm. Gonzales 7,486 and Brehm 17,268.

Democratic Party

US Representative, District 21

Joseph Kopser wins over challenger Mary Street Wilson. Kopser 4,384 Wilson 2,872.

US Representative, District 23

Gina Ortiz Jones defeats challenger Rick Trevino. Jones 4,810 Trevino 822.


Lupe Valdez holds off challenger Andrew White. Valdez 18,557 and White 15,062

Judge, County Court at Law No. 1

Tony Jimenez, III 15,458 and Helen Petry Stowe 17,378.

County Commissioner, Precinct No. 2

Paul Elizondo holds off Queta Rodriguez. Elizondo 5,369 Rodriguez 4,997.
