Missions fall to Frisco

FRISCO

IMG_0008Texas League South Division leader Frisco slugged its way to a 7-4 win over the Missions Monday night in the opener of the four-game series.

The Missions, who had their four-game losing streak snapped, got into a 5-0 hole after the RoughRiders struck for a run in the first on Chris Gimenez’s solo home run and added four in the fourth with the big blow being a three-run blast from Zach Cole off starter Bryce Morrow (0-1).

Frisco starter Frank Lopez (2-0) kept the lead secure by mowing down the Missions through the first six innings. San Antonio got something going in the seventh by closing the gap to 5-3.

Mike Olt lined a single and Taylor Lindsey ripped a two-out double before Jose Rondo’s single brought them home.

Frisco countered with a run in the bottom of the inning and added another in the eighth for a 7-3 advantage.

The Missions made another attempt at a comeback when Lindsey led off the inning with a homer. Frisco closer Adam Parks (second save) put an end such hopes by getting three quick outs.
