Local Little League teams advance to sectional tournament

In a slugfest, during the District 19 Little League tournament the Greater Helotes Little League (GHLL) 9-11-year-old team will be moving on to the sectional tournament. The team defeated Greater Northeast 27 to 0 in the opening game of the tournament.

Greater Northeast defeated Northwest 6 to 0 to reach the title game and rematch against GHLL to earn a trip to the sectional tournament. GHLL won the rematch 21 to 6 and advanced to play in the sectional tournament.

The GHLL Jr. League softball team hoped to return to the World Series this year. Although most of the team members were new they hoped to build on the success and reputation of the program. In a hard fought game Windcrest defeated GHLL 13 to 10 in game one.

In game 2 GHLL had to win to force a game three and keep their plans to advance to sectionals alive. In a marathon game—3 ½ hours and 8 innings GHLL fell to Windcrest 17-15 and were eliminated from tournament play.

Windcrest advanced to the sectional tournament.

GHLL major softball completed district play as champions and advances to the sectional tournament. In 2015 GHLL lost in the final game of the regional tournament and just missed reaching the World Series. In 2016 GHLL won the regional tournament and won the World Series title. Last year GHLL was eliminated at the State tournament.

This year, GHLL defeated Bulverde, Alamo Heights, and Northside Suburban to advance to the title game. Alamo Heights earned a trip back into the title game and hoped to play spoiler and earn redemption. However, GHLL won the title game 10-0 to move onto the sectional tournament.

In a tournament surprise, GHLL 8-10 year olds were defeated in the tournament by Northside Suburban and McAllister Park and were eliminated before the title game.

Northside Suburban defeated McAllister Park to advance to the sectional tournament.

GHLL intermediate baseball (50-70) defeated Northside Suburban in the title game 15-9 to reach the sectional tournament.

Northwest defeated Northside Suburban 19-4 in the Senior League to advance to the sectional tournament.

McAllister Park American will represent District 19 in the sectional tournament for 8-10-year-old baseball.

McAllister Park National blanked Bulverde to win the District 19 crown for 9-11-year-old baseball. McAllister Park National represents District 19 in the sectional tournament.

Northside Suburban played a tight game in the title match for major baseball. Four years ago Northside Suburban pulled the upset and eliminated McAllister Park at the district level. The team reached the regional finals and fell to Texas East just missing the World Series.

This year, Northside Suburban fell 2 to 1 against McAllister Park American and MP will move on to the sectional tournament.

Alamo Heights continued to shine in baseball. The Junior League team defeated Bulverde to reach the sectional tournament.

Capitol Park stole a sectional berth from Alamo Heights in the Senior League division defeating Alamo Heights 2-0 to advance.
