Holmes closed out its 2014 volleyball season on a happy note this past week. The Huskies (27-15, 7-11) had everything working their way in registering a 3-0 District 27-6A win over Marshall. Led by 19 kills from Samantha Polk and 12 from Hanna Rebar, the Huskies squeezed out 25-21, 25-20 wins in the first two games, before getting on a roll with a 25-15 victory in the third set. Isabel Korrodi, who also competed in the Region IV Cross Country Meet this past week, delivered 38 assists and led the defense with 20 digs. Cinthia Cuevas helped the defense with 18 digs. Although Holmes missed the playoffs, the Huskies were competitive The Huskies had several players chalking up highlights throughout the season. Polk was the team leader in kills with 479 and Rebar had 264. Korrodi’s versatility was a plus. She had 1,047 assists and added 285 digs. Her sister, Anabel, helped out with 183 kills and 283 digs. This past Tuesday was also the final game for seniors Jasmine Alex, Katie Tracy, Lailah Cobble, Katie Tracy, Cuevas, Rebar and Polk.
