Helotes Little League to defend State titles

The Greater Helotes Little League softball teams will attempt to defend their State Championships this week in Abilene. This year, Greater Helotes Softball has three teams traveling to the State Tournament.

The 8-10 year olds, the 9-11, and the Little League Team will all try to return as State Champions. This will be the third year in a row for the 8-10 to win the State Championship. This will be the fourth year in a row for the 9-11 to win the State title.

Last year, the Little League softball team was one inning away from traveling to the World Series. If the team repeats as State Champions it will be the second year in a row for this accomplishment. This will earn the team a trip to the regional tournament in Waco and a chance to qualify for the World Series in Portland, Oregon.

New this year is the Little League 50/70 (intermediate) Baseball team. The Greater Helotes team rocketed through district and sectionals to earn the first trip for Helotes to the State tournament. If they win state the team will compete at regionals with a chance to advance to the World Series.
