During the 34th annual fun nite on August 4 the Helotes Ag Boosters presented scholarships to deserving students and recognized scholarships offered by San Antonio Livestock Show and Exposition (SALE).
The Helotes Ag Booster Club awarded over $8,000 in scholarship to Helotes 4H members during the event.
Alyssa Olivarez received the $400 Hocheim Scholarship.
McKayla Schott, Morgan McCullough, Barrett Hunt, Emily Squyres, Lauren Milton, Olivia Sosa, and McKenzie Balero received scholarships from the Helotes Ag Booster Club.
McKayla Schott also received the $1,000 Ryan Jonas Scholarship.
McKenzie Balero received the $500 Cindy Galm Memorial Scholarship.
Barrett Hunt and Olivia Sosa received $20,000 scholarships from SALE.
Helotes Ag Booster Club uses proceeds from the annual fun nite along with spare change people collect in their piggy bank all year to raise money for the scholarship fund.
Olivarez will be attending University of Incarnate Word majoring in Nursing. Schott travels to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech also majoring in Nursing. McCullough enrolled at Texas State University to study Veterinarian Pathology. Hunt will attend Blinn at College Station to begin studies for Physical Therapy. Squyres enrolled at Tarleton State University to major in Education hoping to become an Agriculture Science teacher. Milton also travels to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech University to study Viticulture. Sosa enrolled at West Texas A&M to study Agriculture Education. Balero will attend Palto Alto College to study Journalism.
Tickets to the annual fun nite are limited and will go on sale for next August during the summer of 2019.
