Construction on the $3.5 million project will begin in January
The Bexar County Public Works Flood Control Division invites the community to a final community meeting before construction begins on the French Creek Tributary NWWC Flood Control Project planned for the city of Helotes. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Casa Helotes Senior Center. It is free and open to the public.
The $3.5 million project will remove multiple residential properties from the 100-year floodplain and will eliminate multiple low water crossings in the Evans Valley subdivision and at the intersection of Diamond K and Bar X Trail. The project will also utilize natural channel design elements to make improvements to French Creek and associated tributaries, thus removing homes in the Cedar Springs and Evans Valley subdivisions from the floodplain. Construction will begin in January 2017 and is expected to take approximately 12 months to complete.
The French Creek Tributary NWWC project is funded through the Bexar County Flood Control Program, a 10-year, $500 million capital improvement program that funds regional projects across Bexar County. For more information, visit www.BexarFloodControl.org.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 14 at Casa Helotes Senior Center. Casa Helotes is located at 12070 Leslie Road across from O’Connor High School. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm.
