Arkansas rallied to a 3-1 victory over San Antonio in the Texas League season opener Thursday night.

The Travelers scored all their runs with two outs and received stout pitching from Andrew Moore, Darin Gillies (1-0) and Art Warren, who combined for a three-hitter and 11 strikeouts.

Josh Naylor got two of the Missions’ hits and the other came from Austin Allen’s solo home run in the second that gave San Antonio a 1-0 lead.

Missions pitchers also had 11 Ks and held the Travelers to five hits, but seven walks, five coming from starter Cal Quantrill, and two wild pitches caused problems.

Arkansas tied the game with a run in fourth.

After two strikeouts by Quantrill, who fanned four, Joe De Carlo doubled before consecutive walks loaded the bases. Dillon Overton took over the pitching and uncorked a wild pitch to bring De Carlo home.

The Missions reliever got out of the jam and pitched one-hit baseball with three strikeouts through 2 1/3 innings.

Arkansas got the advantage with a two-run spurt in the seventh off reliever Brad Wieck (0-1).

Braden Bishop began with a single, before Wiek got two quick outs. The Arkansas baserunner then stole second. After Dario Pizzano drew a walk, Seth Mejas-Brean stroked an RBI single to right. Pizzano eventually scored on a wild pitch.

The Missions showed hopes of a rally in the ninth when Naylor singled with one out. However, the Travelers turned a double play to wrap up the victory.

The three-game series resumes Friday.

Midland was the only team from the South Division to come out a winner as the four-time Texas League champions pulled out a 6-5 win over Springfield.

Northwest Arkansas claimed a 5-4 walk-of victory over Corpus Christi in the bottom of the ninth and Springfield topped Frisco, 5-2.
